Ovulation induction meds plus an HCG trigger shot is pretty standard protocol for IUI and TI cycles here in the US. How did you make it two years without any doctor suggesting this? Did you see a specialist?

My friend also had this experience. Instead of being given progesterone, which is what's given here in the US, she was given HGC in her native country of France.

Theoretically, once in the body, progesterone and HCG at that early conceptual stage have similar roles, in that HCG stimulates the corpus luteum to produce progesterone, and progesterone prepares the endometrium to receive the fertilized egg. But it's interesting that some women react differently to each molecule. More research is needed.

Wife has PCOS, we've been trying for the past 2 years with no luck and she's been seeing a Dr here in the US since about a year ago. They got us on all sorts of tests including semen analysis but nothing was conclusive and we thought we would need IVF because of what the Dr's were saying (sorry I don't have specific details because I wasn't present at all the appts). We're from another country and took a trip back there for a few weeks. She visited her old gynecologist who took a look under ultrasound, he didn't seem at all concerned about the ability to conceive. He gave her some sort of prep medication along with an HCG shot and ordered her to take the shot and then within 24-48 hours have intercourse. 2 weeks later we got a positive test and initially I thought it was leftover HCG from the shot, but now we're almost at the end of the first trimester.

How is it that the Dr's here couldn't figure it out? Why didn't they recommend the shot for us when literally the first time it worked? It really makes me think less of US Dr's. Plus we spent 10x here what we did back home.
