This kid is in 8th grade so not in NHS. So yes, that is the only reason I can think of if your kids are in HS. The hours need to be verified. Otherwise it doesn’t matter for college or life or anywhere else.

Is there a point to getting more than the required hours in 8th grade. Seems some of DD classmates are planning to do 30 instead of 15 and was wondering if they will end up with some sort of award/honor but no one is telling kids this is a possibility. Seems to happen a lot in FCPS.

No, but you can get the community service chord and you need them for honors societies. I It often took several months at least before they were verified at the school.

I think they actually get verified by the SS but you can resubmit and contact student services in the fall if they don’t’ get approved.

DS has been volunteering with multiple organizations this past school year and entering his hours in xvol. They have not been verified by his counselor. Does FCPS still require SLH to graduate?
