If you are a member of AN, ask them. They gave me good info on historical admits for top but more niche schools we were interested in.

Otherwise, “interview” a national college counseling firm (so many to choose from) and in the interview ask them for stats for CalTech as say not providing that info will impair your ability to make a decision on an engagement.

I wouldn’t go by recent admissions stories. Caltech stopped requiring standardized testing during COVID so some people who wouldn’t normally be admitted were admitted. Professors wrote a letter recommending that admissions testing be reinstated, so now it is.

That’s totally dependent on the sport. Men’s soccer, for instance, has a new coach who is ambitious. They are recruiting mls next level players. I know an athletic recruit that is going there next year. 800 sat math, 4.0; ap calculus in 8h grade, math competitions, research with two professors at a relatively prestigious state university, name on published paper, 3 different ap physics classes, etc.

I only know of athletic recruits. The class is small, so a good percentage of students are athletes. They don’t really lower academic standards for athletes, but the needed ability isn’t that high - some accepted didn’t even make varsity at their high school.
