Instead of doubling up during the school day, do OPTG for one of them. Two evenings a week and a ‘manageable course load. Some did two English classes this way and it worked well. They even provide sped support of that is something your child qualifies for.

You can double up for English during the school year where you need credit recovery. One year my son missed a lot of school and had to do summer school for English. It was so time consuming. The following year, same issue. Failed English because of medical issues. For that class he doubled up. It was a much less onerous solution.

+1 on MCPS summer school if it’s not too late for this summer. My kid retook a semester’s math class from the MCPS regional (online) summer school for grade improvement and it went fine.

Summer school at her High school if they are offering or summer school provided at various sites around county. English is a required course so should be offered over the summer. Look on MCPS website and/or call your kid's school or counselor.

Wouldn't MCPS's own summer program be the answer?

It's been a few years since we were in MCPS but at that time they were very hesitant to allow transfer credits.

My daughter flunked 10th grade English after missing a lot of school for medical reasons. Any recommendations for a good online class that is approved in MCPS for credit that she could take this summer to get her back in good credit shape for 11th grade?
