. its not just you. we ran one notch down from max ac the entire time i drove today and heat in car was still pretty high.

I'm the Toyota driver above and was told this same thing by my very honest mechanic on a different car once, although I think I only had to recharge it one more time a few years later before we got rid of the car for other reasons, so not every 6 months. I believe it would have been way more expensive to try to find and fix the leak than just recharge it just due to the parts that would have been needed, even if I'd have had to recharge it multiple times.

There's no way I'd give up my honest mechanic over this. He's taken care of us for about 20 years and at least 5 or 6 different vehicles. If he recommends doing or not doing something, I trust him fully.

Make sure the air is recirculating.

No. It was as glacial as ever. My teen can't tolerate heat, so I freeze every time I drive them around.

I thought mine was struggling and making a hissing sound but you can't expect it to feel the same as when it's not as hot outside, so I decided not to worry about it. I have a Toyota. You will be able to tell when it's actually not working which has happened to me in other cars.

Subaru owner here. Subaru has those big windows (which I love for visibility) but they heat up the interior quickly. I crank the fan up along with the a/c.

2019 Subaru. Trying to figure out if it's the excessive heat or if I need a Freon recharge.
