I believe they have a couple shifts of pilots and they use aut pilot a lot

Watching the news tonight, they said that the planes left Missouri and flew 18 hours to Iran and 18 hours back. So a mission of 36+ hours?

Are they leaving out a base where they stopped, or are pilots really flying continuously for 36 hours? I have a job that's on the fringes of commercial aviation so I'm familiar with a universe that has really specific rules around flying time and rest. I'm familiar with infantry missions involving staying up for that long, but am wondering how that level of tiredness translates to flying. How do military pilots do it?
