While there is no chance he could enroll in the military even if he wanted to serve because he wouldn’t pass the health screening, he still had to register in case there is ever a draft.

The only males who don’t have to register are those who are incarcerated or institutionalized continuously from age 18 to 26.

I am really surprised not everyone realizes this

This. My brother is special needs. Anybody who has a 10-second conversation with him would realize he's not capable of serving - but he registered just like every other 18-year-old male.

Medicated ADHD is ineligible to enlist. Both my kids (male and female) have been medicated since elementary/ middle school continuously. So, they’re out.

Do people seriously think the US would launch a "Normandy Invasion" in Iran? That would be insane.

We currently have an insane potus with signs of dementia and a drunk, incompetent secdef whose wife babysits him operating the war. These are not ordinary times.

Ridiculous. There are actual active duty and reserve soldiers who *actually* have to worry about this.

Americans use peanut butter in their armed forces' rations. My son is anaphylactic to peanuts (swelling, blue lips, can't breathe, the works). He was told he could not serve. Perhaps they'll make an exception for home front service in wartime, if they're desperate, but he would definitely not be a first choice.

Watch the movie Stripes, made in the mid 1980's. There was a joke in it about an enlistee who joined to avoid being drafted.

There hasn't been a draft in almost 50 years.

Being dramatic enough that you actually think there is going to be a draft.

Is asthma, anxiety, depression or heart condition reason enough to be exempted from being drafted to war?

How about conscientious objector of wars?

What are the other reasons to be exempted?
