I'd like to see someone who says that in their ads. Not doubting there might be one if one looked enough, but would be interesting to see an actual ad or website for a gen contractor that says that.

I would start with a bucket and sponge and some bleach solution. I grew up with mildew and it’s going to recur till you put in a fan but it’s not difficult to clean.

One of my tenant did this to a bathroom . They didn’t turn on exhaust fan .
I had handyman clean the mold off, apply anti mold and painted over. It’s been a year now, not came back. But it’s depend on how bad / extensive the molds are.

The problem is if it got behind the wall/ceiling.

If it's in the drywall it will just grow through the paint. Even mold inhibitors won't do much in a wet environment like that.

General contractor.
Will require drywall removal/installation.
Installing exhaust fan.
Tape and bed and texture.
Painting.

That's often 3-4 different people, unless you get a general contractor willing to do it all himself, which would save considerable money.

Old house - we know we need a new exhaust fan and the right finish bathroom ceiling paint. Unfortunately though now we need the ceiling mildew cleaned/remediated and painted. What kind of professional do we hire - painter? handyman? other?
