It was the only brand of appliance I haven't needed to replace or repair. My Bosch top plastic thing broke and has a huge crack in it. I've had two whirlpool fridges, both broke after 8-9 years (the Fridgiare range lasted longer than both).

Bosch’s dishwashers have a similar rating on the site, but cost twice the price of the more expensive Frigidaire above, which is an important factor to consider.

Appliances are more finicky than ever these days; I’d trust the reviews and not pay more than necessary/desired.

As efficiency standards have tightened, reliability has declined. Is it really better to have more efficient appliances if they need to be replaced twice as often? I would not compare a 20-30 year old appliance to anything today. They aren't comparable.

I like fridgaire and just for new ones. My Frigidaire range lasted 16 years and still worked when we gave it away. I hate my Bosch dishwasher.

Sorry, CR.org poster from above. Frigidaire and LG are rated similarly for brand reliability (53 and 49 respectively). For comparison, Bosch is rated 96.

I took at look at Consumer Reports for you as a potential source of information. The top rated Bosch are rated in the low to mid 80s. The top rated Frigidaire (GDSH4715AF; $750) is rated in the low 70s and not a recommended model.

Detailed Test Results
Washing: This model performed excellent in our wash test of heavily soiled dishes. Energy use: This model performed very good in our energy test, which combines water and energy use for a fully soiled load of dishes.
Noise: This model performed very good in our noise tests, which combine sound-level measurements and listener judgments.

Owner satisfaction listed 12 out of 100 for this dishwasher.

For a similar price, you can look at the recommended LG LDPH5554S at the same price point and rated higher. This model has a third rack and owner satisfaction listed at 49 of 100 and judged very good for noise as well as better at cleaning.

Try reading reviews for specific models on appliance store sites, Best Buy, Home Depot, etc. They tend to be helpful and accurate, and it seems like the model often matters more than the brand for appliances.

Fridgidare sucks. Get a Meile.

Need a new dishwasher. Really like the small adjustable 3rd rack my Bosch dishwasher had, but I see Frigidaire now has that (and the few other things I want) for several hundred dollars less.

We are cash strapped, so saving money with Frigidaire (compared with the Bosch) would help.
