I’m in my 60s and have had rosacea forever. Metronidazole never did anything for me. Prescription azelic acid used to help but doesn’t help much anymore either. The most effective thing for me was taking low dose doxycycline worked wonders for me. A very expensive version of doxy was marketed hard years ago but it’s a rip off.

As I’ve aged my rosacea is much worse. I make my own primer and have to use very basic makeup. All chemical sun screens cause me to react terribly. I can’t use any “active” beauty products- no vit c serums or tretenion etc.

Another vote for Vbeam- and it was cheaper than the topical medicines.

Worried about having her try any other products due to her sensitive skin but has anything helped any of you?
She's very embarrassed about it and I feel so bad for her.

Getting treating for SIBO ended my rosacea. The creams don't do much.

Anyhow, the cream is available at Walgreens an not expensive so maybe worth a try.

I read about this cream on Reddit! It seems to work well especially for Rosacea type 2 which is inflammatory with pus-filled red bumps. Does OP's kid have regular rosacea or Type 2 (Papulopustular rosacea)?

It’s funny, my rosacea is worse in the winter. I think it’s going from outside cold air to warm air inside. In addition to the sun, foods can bring a flare on too. Wine and spicy foods in my case. I would return to the derm and tell them the Metrogel isn’t working.

I’ve tried everything. There are a lot of fancy drugs that have been approved in the last ~5 years he could try. Ivermectin is still gold standard if it’s due to demodox mites (mine wasn’t) and antibiotics are first line of defense to get it under control. I ultimately cleared and have kept it clear by removing everything but cerave and vanicream products. All the fancy stuff made me flare and I had to repair my skin barrier. It’s 100% individual so it’s just finding the triggers specific to the individual. It’s not fun but I’d say pare everything back and try one thing at a time. If it’s not working at 2 months, try something else.

I learned about azelaic acid here!
I get it as an RX from my derm, but there are OTC ones.

I have rosacea and very dry skin. I do use a mineral sunscreen and the zinc is also soothing (same as diaper rash cream).

The Summer is definitely the worse of the two, but the cold air does but make her skin dry and redden.

Wondering if people have had any luck treating rosacea/red skin? My 16 yo has been dealing with rosacea for years and she constantly has pink cheeks and chin and occasional flares.
