I was just in London last week and it was absolutely fine. Had a great time.

I was just in London on Monday.
No issues whatsoever, we were being tourists ( I’m British, my teen is American) so lots of school trips and other tourists whete we were but that’s it.
I got back from the UK last night, had a fabulous time all around.

London isn't even majority English any more. As a very diverse city with a sizable number of Americans, it's not going to have antipathy for Americans in particular.

We are heading to London in October and expect zero issues. You have been hearing about anti-traveler sentiment in Barcelona -- which is not a surprising thing there. But it's a totally different place, and not the same kind of situation at all.

Been to Paris and London in the past 3 months and felt no animosity. Parents traveled all around Italy for 3 weeks last month and people were welcoming.

Lol, if they still have "American Candy Stores" in London, stay away from those. They are sketchy businesses. Kind of like money-laundering souvenir shops.

After decades of travelling to London as a yank, I have never felt anger. Folks are quite friendly & often want to chat bout American culture or their trips to the States.

Then again, we're not in Leicester Square or Madame Tussaud's

PP. Continental Europe's fine art museums are pretty unpleasant due to crowds looking at the most famous pieces. Smartphones make it worse. Timed tickets are often a sign of trouble. It's hard to enjoy art when you feel pushed along and people are photographing all around you. But usually, even in these museums, there are wings where few people go.

Enjoying tourism in high season often means doing outdoor tourism (walking tours, boat rides, etc.) and picking low times and less famous sites.

London is a larger city and its tourist sites are spread out. Barcelona has concentrations of famous sites and the tourists tend to be in these places.

A lot of the anger in Barcelona relates to housing (bought up apartments for AirBnB purposes) and congestion in specific spots.

If you plan your trip effectively, you do not need to rent illegal apartments or be part of giant unwelcome crowds. All the major tourist sites in London are used to handling high volumes even of local tourists (and price appropriately).

I’m a Brit living in the US for over 20 years. Americans are very welcome and appreciated in London. My American husband and children are always treated kindly.

I keep hearing about anger towards tourists in Europe, especially Spain. Anyone know if this is happening in London, too?
