We got ours through Mama Bear legal and then had the notarized at our bank.

PP—we aren’t sure what to do with the FERPA form though.

I see bills and pay them, the kids share grades when they feel like it. They are both at ivies and are independent, no need for me to have more info. They happen to have super highgpas that they have showed me on transcripts but it would be fine if they were average 3.7 or whatever it is these days

For kids having ADHD, do you think it's better to hover at least one semester if not two to ensure they are doing okay before they fly on their own. In high school they are doing okay because the material is relatively easy, and we are always around.

Complete Ferpa and HIPAA-there are forms online that you get notarized and submit. HIPAA is especially important if your kid has a medical issue.

Yes. It’s bizarre but the school is under no obligation to share anything with you. We asked our kids. Told them to let us k ow if they were struggling. I never saw a report card or a grade. But we had a sense that they were doing well enough.

Some people say, I pay your bills, you share everything with me. I get that, but we never did it and the school definitely won’t do it


FWIW, I graduated from college in the early 1990s and I don’t think my parents ever saw my grades or anything either

I just pay the tuition bill and ask about grades, we don’t have other access. I do still book the travel home and doctors appointments during breaks etc, but in year one my kid handled an international trip with friends and several medical appointments following a sports injury so she’s getting more independent in stages.

My kid just graduated. We had access to the billing portal. As far as grades, I asked how things had gone at the end of each semester and DC told me. All I really needed/cared to know was if DC was maintaining the required GPA for their scholarship and I knew that from the tuition bills.

I don’t have access to grades but I ask occasionally, especially if my kid is feeling challenged by a particular class. Otherwise, I don’t ask because I want to avoid adding another layer of pressure to what the kids already have.

I have access to the bills and that’s it. Never crossed my mind to ask for more. Kids are independent, work hard, and do well. They share grades with me, but I don’t ask. At some point they need to fly on their own.

Our school will allow parents to see grades if the student allows access. I have never asked for that. My kids have always told me how they are doing. And they seem to graduate without me hovering.

At most I see grades at the end of the semester. Kids all graduated with honors and I was pretty hands off the whole time.

My crazy friend was checking her kids’ meal plans to see how often they were swiping in. Insane to me.
