I have never vomited before from working out, and regularly do 5x/week workouts involving a mix of spin, swim, and weights. It's only when my heart rate gets super high, and only when I've got nothing in my stomach aside from water. I'm 49.
I don't really know if this is some sort of perimenopause thing or what. Doctor's statement was just "have a protein bar before working out."
Is this something I should be concerned with?

I don't think this is rocket science, but is your body's way of saying that you don't have enough fuel for your workouts. A banana or a half a plain bagel or something small seems like an easy way to see if it helps.

OP here. The banana certainly seems easier to digest than a protein bar. Those make me feel like I ate a brick. A lot of the time that this happens is when I wake up and go directly to working out. I don't like to eat or even have coffee when I work out first things because it makes me nauseous. But a banana might be easy enough.
