It’s not their fault, those young betches bought up all the coastal grandmother sweaters. The vests are all they have left.

I would bring a wool sweater and jacket, unless the forecast is in the 90s.

How about a sweatshirt or a fleece OP?

A sweatshirt will keep you warm enough. Californians on the Cape (including my entire extended family ) wear Patagonia fleece at night. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone wearing a down vest.

Are you european? If so, a puffer vest is required in summer.

Pretty much live on the Cape during the summer. A sweatshirt, tracksuit type zip up, cardigan, etc are fine. Puffer vests aren't very common

A sweatshirt is plenty. And even then, you could just buy one at Cuffy’s if you really need it.

I would take a hoody - I always have one in Maine in the summer and sometimes I need it.

I've never owned a puffer vest in my half a century on earth and am thriving despite that. I do however, get accommodations at work for my lack of puffer vest which is a disability I persevere through via a support group.

A puffer vest? I always put on a sweatshirt or Patagonia pullover.

Huh? It can get cool at night there but there is no magic to what you pack to account for that - I have never brought a puffer vest, I pack a sweatshirt or sweater.

I was told it would be something great to have handy because it’s chilly by the water but your arms can remain free.

The one I own is like this but in black:
