Not what you asked, but was just back in Philly this weekend and went to Suraya and Royal Izakaya. I have missed the Philly food so much, and these did not disappoint. Also, pick up on some Essen baked goods (rugelach is my fave) on your way out of town.

Agree with PP who mentioned Longwood Gardens.

If Longwood is along the way, so is Winterthur in Delaware. If you are just planning a weekend in Philadelphia there is tons to do. Don't stop along the way.

+1. Longwood is worth a detour. Also recommend the Brandywine River Museum.

Is there a reason you all prefer to stop rather than making the short drive directly to Philadelphia? As others have said, there’s really nothing of note if you take the most direct way to Philly.

It’s 2 1/2-3 hours. Why bother stopping? There’s really not much that’s worth seeing along the way.

It's not that far, and 95 is the best route. You could stop in Baltimore if you wanted to, but I always drive straight there.

I suppose if you wanted to take a long way, you could drive across the Bay Bridge and then head north on 301. Or you could take 83 north from Baltimore, drive to Lancaster first, and then east to Philadelphia.
