It really depends on what you're selling and what the margin is. Different things require different skill levels, not all sales are created equal.

Yes, look at it as roughly 10% commission. If margins of what you sell are petty high you may have a little bit of leverage. My sales people typically net out 33% of gross profit,10% of sale.

I have 2 years of experience in a closing role, 6 years total but the first 4 years of my career were in consulting and an entry level sales role. Currently generating right at the million mark in revenue per year and make right around $115k a year. Does that sound like fair compensation for someone with my level of experience? I work for a very small org and am a top performer on my team.
