TTRS is really teaching to type, even though it reinforces some spelling patterns. It's not a substitute for decoding tutoring.

Can you use TTRS just for the typing portion if you kid has already done OG training (we are finished with level 4 of sounds in syllables thru ASDEC)

Touch Type Read and Spell. TTRS. Helped my severely dysgraphic son enormously.

My dc hasn't started typing yet (but will soon). I've heard good things about Mavis Beacon typing, they have a kids program.

I'm actually going to try a paper book approach-we got a typing book from The Good and the Beautiful (the student uses a keyboard on a computer or tablet to do it).

We did typing club 15 minutes a day--- it took about 7 months to get to 40 words a minute. We also use the Institute for Excellence in writing spelling curriculum- its good for auditory learners!

We used Typesy. It is set up like a traditional typing class.

My kids did one or two modules in the summer before video games last year. My older DC finished 75% in one summer and the other finished 50%. They will restart/finish it up this summer.

Did two lessons a night til we were basically done. (Took a long time that way, but our kid wouldn't have the patience to work on it for 45 minutes at a time)

My ADHD kid with a poor working memory is really struggling with spelling....and her reading tutor recommended teaching her to type (we're still working on spelling and phonics, but she thinks that the option of spell check will improve confidence).

What are the best apps/programs for learning to type. My kid is 9 years old and, besides terrible spelling and ADHD, has no other learning differences (no diagnosis of dyslexia or dysgraphia--the neurospyche thinks the poor spelling is related to attention/working memory, not a learning difference).
