Does FCPS still have teacher/staffing shortage?
I just heard our school de-staffed.

Please someone tell me.

+1

OP, the good thing about the teacher shortage is that you can probably move counties easily and get a pay bump if FCPS doesn't give a step.

In December, I reach my 19th anniversary with FCPS, and I am on step 14.

I am going year by year with them now. I am staying for this 6% pay increase because it helps my retirement, but I don't expect to make it too many more years. The system is in absolute free fall with this Superintendent. I don't even recognise it anymore.

Agree that I’ve gotten a step about 75% of the time. Going into year 15 I’m on step 11.

FCPS is currently a disgrace. If I wasn’t so far in, I’d be gone today. They are failing children, failing their teachers and creating unsafe situations all over the county. Reid needs to go, as to anyone she hired.

Unless the budget gets cut and steps are frozen there is a pay ladder. You just march up the ladder based on years of experience. It’s on the HR website, the pay scale table that is.

Pretty confident that’s how it works in most northern va counties so really you’re just comparing numbers. I wouldn’t put a whole lot behind the CBA, there are more protections but from what I know pay scale and advancement are largely the same.

How about get the job first. Pay in FCPS is competitive and with the advent of collective bargaining there it is getting better. Not sure it will help the schools but the pay check is improving.

+1, in my 20+ years of experience I would count on them occurring about 75% of the time
