2 bottles chilled rioja
1/2 c brandy (or triple sec or cointreau, I actually prefer these altho brandy is more traditional)
1 orange, juiced (or 1/3c OJ)
2T sugar
1 each lemon, orange, cut into small slices
1 green apple, diced
1 cinnamon stick

Put 1/2 of the lemon and oranges in bottom of a pitcher, sprinkle sugar on top and muddle. Add brandy and orange juice and muddle again. Add wine, apples, reserved lemon and oranges slices, and cinnamon stick, stir, refrigerate at least 6 hours. Pull out cinnamon stick and taste, adjust as necessary.

I like to top my glass with seltzer.

This is a really good basic recipe. I’ve made it with Cointreau and with Deep Eddy orange vodka instead of brandy. I bet it would be good with St Germain too.

I've been making this for 15 years and get rave reviews/requests to make it every time I host a summer party.

It's just wine with some oranges in it, or other fruit if you want mix it up a little, and some triple sec, maybe a little zest of cinnamon or dash of vanilla.
If you need a "recipe" then try
1 bottle red wine of choice of grape and origin, but traditional is from Spain.
4-5 med oranges sliced up about 1/2 to 1/4 inch thick round slices with skin
1 to 1.5 cups of triple sec (get a high alcohol content one for best results such as 20% or more)
tsp vanilla optional
tsp ground cinnamon optional

If you want it to go futher, or be efervescent, then add 2 cups of sparkling soda water (NOT mineral water) or if you want it sweeter, use a lemon/lime soda.

Title says it all. I've never made sangria and I love it whenever I go to a restaurant.

Can you please share your favorite recipe and include brands for wine and or brandy and or gin if you use gin instead of brandy?
