Have you seen ways in which religion made people bad?

Everyone in my family is Conservative or Reform and they wanted to be Very Orthodox - changing the way they dress, insisting on going to temple at least twice a week, wanting my cousins to change the way they dress, wanting to keep kosher, pray before each meal, etc. Both (separately, different sides of the family) wound up divorcing these women. They weren't the women the men married.
I wouldn't go so far as to say religion made them bad people, but religion inspired them to put religion before their relationships, which wound up killing their marriages.
It sort of sounds like both women wanted a big change in their lives, and converting to Judaism made it possible. At the ultimate expense of their marriages, unfortunately.

Yes all conservative religions are bad all orthodox
Controlling others is an inherent part of the religion that’s very bad
Civil laws control others as well. But laws aren't bad, are they?
