Just bought the Callaway set from Costco and it arrived 2 days ago. My son is in high school and he was very excited! He’s going to find a used bag on Facebook marketplace.

There are 2 options on the shafts on the Costco callaway clubs. If your son is average size or bigger, you’ll want the steel shafts - not graphite.

All he really needs at this point is a 3-wood, a putter, a 5-iron, & a 9-iron. The rest are unnecessary vanity.

Supposedly they are always sold out…if anyone sees them available you should buy them immediately.

And they also have bags. Playing once a month at most isn’t going to improve his game so he shouldn’t spend a lot.

Get a used set of titleist or Taylor made cavity backed irons.

spend sometime on Facebook market place and see what you can find in a complete set for an adult. save the money on this set so he can figure out what he likes/if he wants to play more later.

My son has taken up golf while in college. He currently plays about once a month, at most. He's been borrowing or using rented clubs and would like to purchase a set of his own that will serve him now as a beginner, and still work for him over the next few years as he hopefully improves his game.

Would love tips on what to look for and how much to plan to spend at this stage.
