You’re right, but it’s for sport practice carpool, so both my kids and friends kids get hungry and thirsty, and they all enjoy little bit snacks.

Are you not from this country? Yes, parents take turns picking kids up and dropping them off. Either you pick them all up or their parents drop them off at your house on their way to work. Most people we carpool with live with 5 minutes of us, so it's not a big deal either way.

Kids...do kid things in the car. They talk to each other, they listen to music, older kids are on their phones. We don't do car snacks.

My car fits 3 small kids or 4 older kids (the 12 year olds can sit in the front seat). A lot of people have minivans or 3 row SUVs so can fit 4-5 kids.

Usually, the way carpool makes life easier is that for example, two families who lives in the same neighborhood will split driving. One family will drive in the morning, the other family will pick up in the afternoon. Or some people divide it by full days. It’s next to impossible to hire out driving for an hour with a long break.

Splitting the drive so you only do mornings and then you don’t have to worry about being home is a lifesaver for working parents. A 4th grader can be dropped off after camp at 4pm and stay home alone until mom or dad gets home at 5

Are you seriously asking what the kids DO in the car? The same thing children have DONE in a car for decades? They wear their seatbelts and talk amongst themselves, sing with the music, etc.

We carpool for sports only becuase our kids ride the bus or we take them to school.
We all live within 6 blocks of each other and pick up/drop off at homes. We have a vehicle that seats 7 so room for those we need to take.

Where do I get the time? I mean I'd have to pick them up from camp regardless, otherwise I couldn't work, so you make the time?
We often choose camps if neighborhood buddies are going. I'll drop the kids off, their dad picks them all up. Other family we sometimes do sports camp with - their kid is my kid's bestie, so I'm happy to bring her home and let her chill til her mom gets off her nursing shift.

I mean, you just freed yourself up from driving to the final location one time. The time saved usually more than makes up for a brief detour to pick someone up for a carpool. Is it that complicated?

We have always hired out a driver and shared with a couple families.

Carpool for us often looks like a neighbor driving the 1 minute to my driveway to pick my kid up, and then me driving the 1 extra minute out of my way to drop their kid off and watch them waltz through the door to their house before taking my own kid home. Meanwhile my spouse is with my other kids.

It only works if it simplifies your life.

I hear many say that they plan which camps or team signups around with kids' friends to get carpool. What does it exactly mean? You pick up kid from school/their home to game/camps or/and drop them off back to their home? Do you all have a clean and big car that can multiple kids? I have more than one kid and I work full-time , and where do you all get the time to drive back /forth to other houses? What do kids do in your car? Eating snack or chit chat loud or quiet?
