LL rules have changed. Up until age 8, players can go to any league they want. At 8, they’re locked in to whatever league they’re currently in. Or can sign up in their home/school boundary league any time after that.

FWIW, in Little League, you have the choice to play where you're zoned - either based on your home address or the school your child attends.

This. Little league has boundaries for different leagues so your address will determine what league you should register for. For what it's worth I have a Vienna address but am zoned to Reston-Herndon--so you need to check.

As noted, spring season just ended but you can sign up for fall now. If you are looking for something very, very lowkey, beginner level, i9 has baseball/t ball for younger kids and I think they have programs in the summer. We did i9 for my 5 year old who wasn't ready for little league.
