I got a Landsend slender suit (need to size up) because I don’t like skimpy bottoms but you could try on different brands at a store like Everything but Water. And I promise no one cares how your thighs look. Rock a regular swimsuit that’s comfortable.

I have said many times on this forum that I don’t understand why it’s socially acceptable or even expected for women to wear less coverage at the pool than they wear for underwear. I live on the beach and see people 100 times a day walk by in their swim wear and 98 percent of women look terrible. Even teens and twenty somethings. The men too.

I’m actually in exceptional shape at 48 but have no interest in dressing like this. It just feels ridiculous. And I’m not a prude; fwiw I’m a huge fan of super revealing clothes in the right context. I’ve been wearing short shorties to the gym this week.

But for the beach, I mostly wear my lululemon or Vuori leggings and either a bikini top or just a rash guard. I have zero interest in getting burned. I look great in my leggings and happily tell my friends I don’t want to get burned. No one bats an eye. The other moms, all 20 pounds overweight, spend the whole day awkwardly pulling down their skirt suits, clearly uncomfortable in their clothes with everyone watching.

Any bathing suit you put on your body will work. After 50, nothing is really going to be "flattering" it's just what it is.

I like Lands End suits…

I’ll probably get a lot of hate for this but I wear a black underwire bikini top and black swim tights. I like the swim tights from Swimsuits For All. They feel less frumpy to me than the ones from Lands End. But I’ve never seen anyone else wear them at my pool. I would also wear a black bikini top with black board shorts but I care more about feeling comfortable.

I am 5’6”, 145 lbs, had three kids and look it. Long torso & a B cup before I breast-fed. In my fitter days, I would wear a bikini usually with board shorts, but I know those went out of style years ago. To cover my flabby thighs, I do have one of those little skirts, but it made me feel like the world‘s frumpiest lady plus when I got in the water, it would float up annoyingly around me. What are you all doing? One pieces with some kind of cover-up when not in the water? Suggestions welcome.
