I never thought about this. Luckily, when DD was little, her favorite color was orange, so we had several years of orange swimsuits.

Yes I have made this mistake before because of the ubiquity of blue options as PP mentioned. If you’ve already purchased, consider pairing with a bright orange rash guard.

Yes this is a real thing. If we are going to crowded places like a waterpark i make my kids wear bright orange. If Im at a quieter home party or the like I allow the blue or green suits.

Hi-viz yellow/orange/magenta rash guards are the answer. I could see my kids from 200 feet away and worried less about sunburn.

That graphic that I just posted is a great representation of what a lifeguard can and cannot see in the water. I believe the top is a child still underwater and the bottom is a child moving around creating waves above them.

Yes and it's infuriating the blue is the most common color when searching for bathing suits (both boys and girls)

I’ve seen this a few Summers ago. Where the social media awareness post shared no blue swim trunks because it’s harder to see them in water and you may not see your child under the water if they blend in.

I ask - does this go for all shades of blue swim trunks?

Are blue trunks a safety concern?





Would neither of these be safe?
