My daughter's did because I insisted upon it and she found a group where two of the Moms were willing to be on site. That gave me a lot of peace of mind, and the girls still had a lot of freedom. I have no idea why FCPS goes to Myrtle when there are plenty of closer beaches, but "that's where everyone was going."

Our HS is there this week. Most every group we know has parent chaperones, including ours. We have 2 parents at a time in the house with 15 teens. 3 shifts of parents.

My kid just got back from Senior Beach week at Rehoboth, Dewey for her HS Winston Churchill. No parents were there. Involvement is you got life 360 if you want to look.

Loosely organized students themselves. I know a ton with to Pearl restaurant in Rehboth same time on one night, was a house party other night in Dewey, Met on Boardwalk at certain times like hey everyone's at Grottos or Trashers.

These are adults with HS degrees. Not children. They are going off to college in less than three months.

No one rented a house. A small amount of people parents owned a house they used and everyone else was at a hotel.

This hotel below last week had a bunch of kids. It is only 18 to check in.

In my experience though it’s always the problematic Cool Moms who stay nearby or at the beach house and buy all the alcohol and get a chance to re live their partying days.

Not generally, but I know a group going with a parent in tow. Beach rentals around this time of year are generally careful to include clauses about noise levels, guests who are not part of the approved list, alcohol onsite, etc.

Statistically, fatalities in this age group are highest, in terms of driving, drinking, accidents, the weeks before and after high school graduation, so some parents are quite wary of beach week and partying. But it's up to each family to come up with guardrails for their kids.

FCPS kids go to Mrytle. A bit further ...

Not typically chaperoned, although parents are involved in the planning, send off, and keep in touch. There's plenty of school/public safety outreach to kids and parents about how to have a safe beach week. It appears to be a uniquely DMV (or at least Maryland) tradition - both public and private schoolers. IME as a parent I've seen alot of kids that go to Bethany, Rehoboth, Dewey, and OBX. It is certainly not mandatory.
