You are fine. If you have a flat, you should always have a spare in the vehicle or under it. Not a tiny donut but a full size spare and a jack.

If you are in the USA, you can even call the number on your license and they send a towtruck driver out to help you change it for you if you are old or unable to do it yourself.

Patch cannot “break” several months later

I can't describe it because I'm not the family car repair person. I just know there was a nail puncture, we got it patched at the shop, and several months later the tire deflated and the shop said it was an issue with the patch.

I’ve had this done several times. Occasionally the tire will start to lose air more quickly years later. But definitely no immediate concern.

I once had a plug pop out about 30 years ago, but I don't think they plug anymore, just patch.

I've had a 3 or 4 of these patches over the years and never had a problem. The repair lasts the life of the tire.

My son will point out that I NEVER go over 85 mph and that he might not be so trusting for reasons that go unsaid.

Never had a patch leak. Go on the trip. If you need AAA along the way, just call. It’s fine.

Yes, I'm generally a very paranoid person, but once it's fixed, it's fixed. You can't patch a tire 3x though.

Yes, get the tire inflator and go on your trip. We've had this happen multiple times, because of endless roadwork and construction near our home. The repeated nail damage did shorten the life of our tires, but we were able to extend it to the max with the tire inflator and home patching, on top of the professional one.

We’ve had this happen several times, and even to the same tire. No concerns at all. Enjoy your trip.

*I should add, because I’m sure it matters, the puncture was nearly dead-center on the tread, nowhere near the sidewall.

My tire took on a nail and I brought it to a well-known, reputable tire shop where they professionally patched the tire from the inside. Everything I’m seeing online says that the patch will be good for the remaining life of the tire; the tires have only 16k miles on them. I have to make a 1000 mile round trip drive in the car and despite what the tire shop told me and what I’m seeing online, I’m still a little anxious. Thoughts?
