I also stopped sending my kids there. Prices got out of control for no reason. Was good when they were younger.

We have done HP Flight, Ball Mastery and Shooting and Finishing. Each camp seems to touch on concepts from all of the camps but emphasizes the topic you signed up for the majority of the time. Ex) At the shooting and finishing they also did 1v1 and HP Flight concepts.

My DD is 11 and enjoyed them. She is a second team level player and thought they were challenging and fun, esp with friends. She said she also saw top team players there that she has interacted with before. The coaches are really high energy and positive but also show each kid what to do differently between reps for more success.

We live further away so can't do week night classes but always try to do camps there.

The camps are ok but not as good as the weekly classes.

Good experience for my DS (U-10). I wish it weren’t so far into Virginia. More indoor spaces in summer would be nice. It’s so so hot.

Like PP, my DD also enjoyed them last summer and is doing a couple this year. Indoors is a big plus given heat and weather in the DMV. There is usually an array of ages and skill levels and your DD will be grouped with comparable players. The coaches were great.

There is some variation between the different classes so make sure you pick ones that are a good fit for your DC. My daughter found Complete Player least helpful -- more of a general overview, less focused touches on a specific skill than the other classes, so good for a catch-up or staying sharp but less opportunity to really get repeated touches to develop a specific skill.

My kid has done them and enjoyed them. A 12 year old will most likely be put with the older age group. There are definitely more younger kids than older kids at the camps from what we have seen.

The PP who turned their nose up at it is probably the one who loves to mention that their son plays MLSNext and turns their nose up at everything. Nothing is elite enough for their superstar. Ignore. If your kid is good but not MLSNext good then HP will be just fine.

Yes, my dd enjoyed the camps last summer. They work hard and get a lot of touches. Her favorite camps were Maestros and HP Flight.

What would you recommend for training?

DS enjoys it (10). It’s inside in the summer so weather/sun isn’t a factor. There are a lot of reps so I wouldn’t recommend more than one session a day. There are weekly clinics with a variety of topics as well if those fit better for your schedule.

Has anyone’s child participated in HP Elite summer camps, how was it? Did your kids enjoy? Any and all details/opinions are appreciated?
