Yes in English, no to heavy accents (IMO). Even though it's based on a Danish book series, it's set in Scotland and the actors are all Scottish or English.

Some of the accents were heavier than others - I had no problem with the leads but couldn’t understand the police boss lady so I relied on subtitles for her.

Started watching yesterday! Love it so far! I have a Matthew Goode thing so I would watch the man read the phone book.

How did the main character not recognize the guy? Also don't understand what the necklace was doing in the crime scene photo.

I don't understand that either, the guy not being recognized.

The dumb Tina Fay/Steve Carrell remake that is terrible gets pages of discussion but a well written series hardly get noticed?

Didn't this show *just* drop? I heard about it for the first time on a podcast last week, and then watched the first episode yesterday. That Tina Fey thing came out weeks and weeks ago plus it has more brand name stars so it makes sense that it's gotten a lot of discussion.

I also prefer Dept. Q but trust me, it's getting tons of buzz.

I watched the first episode and loved it. It's the same creator as The Queen's Gambit, and like that show, it looks really gorgeous in addition to being well written and acted.

Also, for those who are interested, it stars Matthew Goode, who I adore. I think a lot of people know him from Downton Abbey, but he was also in that great Watchman limited series from a few years back, the Imitation Game, did a season of the Crown, etc. He's a great actor and very charismatic (and easy on the eyes).

LOL. So start your discussion! I'm on about episode 2 since I don't have much time for TV, but I'm loving it so far.
What do you want to talk about?

Agree it was a great watch. Especially like that the actors aren't "pretty". Standard for the guys, but none of the women were conventionally beautiful but their lines were witty and they had real, complicated stories. Loved it!

My family and I just finished it. Amazing series. This is the best thing I've seen in a very long time. I'm constantly looking at recommendations and finding myself disappointed.

The writing and acting is so far above average. I don't typically like this genre but I was hooked immediately. Every single woman in the series is so well written. None of the usual stupid tropes. The women are smart, funny and matter.

Damn this was good.

I just binged. I thought it was really good but it also seems like a rip off of Slow Horses. And it was unexpectedly violent.

I just finished this and I loved it. One case investigated through the whole season. It’s based on the first in a a 10 book series by Danish (I think) author Jussi Adlerr-Olsen but this series is based in Scotland and has a great cast. Highly recommend!
