Why remove the sink?

Make it all counter top.

We have a sink and countertop in our small laundry room. I am thinking about removing the sink and putting hooks/a closet bar to hang stuff above the countertop to create a mudroom-like area. If I remove the sink, any creative and inexpensive ideas on what to put instead of it? The sink/countertop have cabinets underneath. I plan to remove the cabinet doors which leaves us with open shelving at the bottom.
