I have the backseat cover from weather tech too. Waterproof, so my nervous dog panting all over the place doesn't get the seats wet. I have fabric seats. And it's protective from nails and mud. It's not the softest material, so I throw a small blanket back there too.

I keep a collapsible water bowl and bottled water in my car at all times.

I also have a harness and "leash" that attaches to the seat belt latch.

Cargo area.
I put a sheet over the backseat of the car that hangs down into the cargo area. I cut tiny holes in it for the headrests. This helps hold it in place too. Stops slobber being on the seat and down the back.

I have kurgo crash tested harness abs a kurgo booster for my pugs. A god vacuum is also nice. Make peace with the fact your car will have dog hair—or in my case a lot of it.

A collapsible water bowl is a good idea too—maybe a wagon depending on their mobility.

We are inheriting one dog, possibly two from a family member who passed away. DH and I both have had dogs growing up and are comfortable around them, and we know these two particular dogs well.

We recently bought a new car and would like to keep it in good shape. We also want to be sure the dog(s) are/is safe in the car. We do a fair amount of driving, as we have a little cabin a few hours from the DMV.

The dogs are mutts, each around 50, maybe 55 pounds.

What are your favorite car accessories?
