It’s kind of cringe, but harmless.

I think it’s generational. Older women seemed offended by it, younger women don’t see it as a problem.

They do not remember how grown women were always called girls by people who referred to themselves as men. I’m glad they don’t carry that baggage, but, seriously, I am definitely a woman, not a girlie.

It’s mainly used by influencers who are marketing stuff. Where my “beverage girlies at?” (Selling Stanley cups, drink mixes with useless supplements, etc.) “This is for my socks-loving girlies” (proceeds to display their Birks with like 10 pairs of ruffled socks that they can link to on their Amazon page).
