It’s not strange at all. My son is 17 and is social but enjoys fishing alone. He finds it relaxing. I think he started around 13 and now even sometimes goes on day trips to fish farther sometimes alone, sometimes with others.

I’m a little confused, is the school with the bullies his current school or a new one? How big is the school?

Poor kid! That’s terrible. Yes to a police report as well. I would either keep in at the same school and try to find more after school activities or look for a different school that’s a little larger. But maybe just keep him at the same school until high school?

(And to the PP above, I use to fish alone as a kid! I lived in a neighborhood in Fairfax that had a lake we could walk to).

I’d keep him wherehe’s at and find other things for him to do outside of school. What are his interest?

I always promise myself as a parent that if my child ever went through something like this, I would not for a second try to help him work through it in the same environment. Frankly, if I were in your shoes, I would up and move New town. kids who have never known him and he can have a fresh start. Seriously.

Try to find another private where there are more kids but absolutely no to public school with the bullies. I wish they had to pay for what they did.

I would agree about not sending him to the public middle school. If he doesn’t have any problems at his current private school, why chance it and send him to a school where the likelihood of him being bullied (again) seems high.

My son is asking to change schools and I don’t know what to do. He’s 13. He was bullied badly in 4th and 5th grade. He went to private for 6th and 7th. It’s very small and he has school friends but no real friends.

He wants to go to 8th grade at our middle school. Today, he wanted me to drive him to a local lake to go fishing. He was alone and I did. A lot of kids from the middle school were there. He called me to get him. Some boys were taunting him and pushed him in the lake. There were like 10 of them. He was so humiliated. They are at that middle school and a year younger. I can’t send him there in the fall, right? He just wanted to fish and maybe talk to someone and he was humiliated
