Yep that’s the problem. Trump is MAGA and MAGA is Trump. Trump has no loyalty to anything other than himself. Not to the country, not to the Republican Party either. He will never endorse a successor, will never promote a rival to a high position (with the slight exception of Marco Rubio as SoS). He barely seems to know Vance, and likely he felt the same way about Mike Pence. Didn’t know them, didn’t want to give them high profile assignments, didn’t care.
When Trump is out of office, there will be a whole bunch of factions of MAGA vying to be the next big thing. It’s already a fairly fragile alliance between the tech bros and the old school Christian nationalists and garden variety RWNJ’s.
The MAGA sentiments will always be there … but what’s a movement without a leader?
