What are people doing these days in traditional homes for kitchen and foyer lighting?

I have brushed gold satin pulls in the kitchen with cream cabinets and black granite counters. Hardwood floors. Kitchen table is a medium pine with black chairs. Foyer has hardwoods; railing is stained black with white spindles. Hardwoods are light/medium.
