It's been worse. I'm 54, in tech. I lived through a few recessions, 9/11, 2008 financial crisis.

If you're right, it will be brutal for real estate in high cost of living areas. If people are jobless and finances get tight, people will need to reevaluate if it makes sense to have an expensive house in an expensive area. Even people who own without a mortgage will be able to save money by moving.

The jobs numbers generally reflect service sector jobs / blue collar jobs since those are the majority of jobs. The white collar jobs data has been bad for some time.

I can’t stomach multigenerational living so I’m actively looking for a second property to buy with cash. I agree that this will likely get much worse.

I was laid off in April and was able to find a decent handful of jobs to apply to each week at first. There’s literally nothing this week. It’s just dead.

For an industry that is supposed to be ``safer'' than tech, media etc in terms of layoffs, how is the next gen of workers going to know what do do?
