It's not scars and it's specifically only in the places where I had the welts. Its like damaged capillaries. I see the dermatologist annually for a skin check and she didn't even mention it. It's cosmetic. I thought it would fade with time but it just isn't.

I had allergic reactions on my hands from a different thing, and those did look something like a scar -- the skin was just super erupted and when it healed (after steroids), it was smoother and shiny white sort of like scar tissue. But those have actually now faded and look pretty much the same as the rest of my hands, so I guess it wasn't a real scar.


There are several types of scars and different things address them. See a dermatologist. But you seem to have very fixed ideas of what scars are and how they work that is completely wrong.

OP, ask your dermatologist for a good waterproof scar makeup. I think Dermablend is one such product.

You should consult a doctor, OP. Some people scar easily, but you need to rule out various diseases.

Separately, I tend to hide my legs in the summer, I have varicose veins. In the winter I can wear minis and shorts with tights. But it's maxi-skirts when it gets hot!

Sally Hansen used to make a spray makeup for legs that was pretty good. Not 100 percent transfer proof, but not bad either.

I remember my mother using some kind of leg makeup to cover her varicose veins (which were terrible). She absolutely ruined the leather seats in Dad's car. I have learned to be less sensitive about the appearance of my legs, which I clearly inherited from my mother.

Thank you! That hadn’t occurred to me.

For the PP, it was some weird allergic reaction to the elastic in some socks I wore to bed overnight. It made welts on my legs like a regular allergic reaction but then it seemed like it maybe damaged the underlying capillaries or something. Maybe if I were younger it would have healed without the damage.

You could try IPL/vbeam at a dermatologist office. Might take a few sessions, but a consultation would be a reasonable place to start.

A couple of years ago I had an allergic reaction and it left the reddish marks on my legs — they look almost like hickies. Is there any good way to cover these? Last summer I tried the jergens self tanner but it didn’t do much of anything. For an event this spring I used under eye concealer and then foundation mixed with lotion. That was an improvement but I’m also worried I’m going to end up leaving foundation smudges on furniture. Any ideas of something that might help? I avoid wearing dresses because my legs look like a 90 year olds.
