I would buy a used Honda accord or civic.

Leasing is never a good financial option. Buy a used car.

I'd purchased a certified used car.

You can not lease a vehicle and let another person drive it like it’s theirs. Read the lease contract. It’s a long term rental, so rental rules apply.

If you do a five year loan to bring payments down he can finish them when he graduates. And then he has something if you lease it there is nothing

Buy one, not lease. Let him test drive and decide.

Either skip a car or buy used.

Is your son still in college? Can he go without car until he graduates?

If you have to lease, I vote getting the one that is cheapest. Include maintenance and insurance when you compute this. Your just renting so you should pay as little as possible.

The car we've been letting him drive has blown the transmission. We've already poured about $7k into it, and its blue book value is barely $3,000. We think it's probably wiser financially to lease him something new.

We've never leased anything. What would be better? A Kia K4 or a Honda Civic hatchback? I prefer the Honda and husband prefers the Kia. The lease terms are comparable with the Civic slightly more per month.
