While I think they should offer A1 to some highly able students at 5th, which some schools did that already.

Kids are just more advanced these days. Calculus and college level classes were not even offered in HS back in the day. It is logical that the curriculum would get pulled forward over time.

My kid had same scores and took Algebra 1 in 7th. The horrors!!!
News flash... they survived and started college having completed MVC and Linear Algebra in HS.

Y'all, please don't do this. just campaign for Alg in 6th. Math 5/6 is arguably a harder course to skip than PreAlg.

Commuting to MS for Pre-algebra in 5th is a bad idea. Only the out of touch parents do it.
The material is easy enough to learn at home and get the Algebra 1 placement in 6th.

If your home school does not offer pre algebra, have your kid do the compacted Math, supplement and push for Algebra in 6th if their 5th grade Spring scores are high (260+). Algebra has a state level testing so ideally you want your kid to start the 6th grade with it, not miss few weeks and then transfer to Algebra.

That is correct. The students will go to nearby MS for the 1st period Math class then back to the ES to continue the 5th grade classes.

What score will be considered 'high' enough to skip the Math 5/6 and directly take the pre-algebra (or AIM/IM whatever you want to call it nowadays) at 5th grade? Any prior experience or successful story before I even consider asking/trying? Appreciated.
