Do you have floor mats that need changing?
Do you clean the shower well?

Sewer gas smell would indicate plumbing issues, but a urine smell simply means something is getting urine stale. You don't do that "if it's yellow let it mellow" thing do you?

Use some bleach. Rinse it well. Then use some acidic cleaners such as Lime Away.

Someone is not peeing in the toilet.

I think this is our issue in our powder room. One tween girl who is not missing the toilet and a weekly cleaning service. I think my perimenopausal nose is more sensitive, but it’s just that one bathroom I notice the smell in.

You can also try spraying nature’s miracle.

In our house that smell is comes from the grout on the floor around the toilet. When the smell shows up I get a can of cheap shaving cream (not the gel kind) and cover the base of the toilet and all of the floor for at least 12" around. Let it sit for 20min. Then scrape the foam off and wash down the floor with hot water. This usually kills the smell and lasts for a few months. I don't know if the smell comes back on its own or it comes back because of new urine being dripped. There are 3 men/boys in the house plus all of the friends that come with teens. Maybe I'll find out who the source is when they leave for college. I clean the floor weekly as well. But the shaving cream is the only thing that really neutralizes the smell when it shows up.

If you have young boys they are missing the target. They have pee mats useful for this. Or you can suggest they sit.

finally, could be smell from bathroom beneath if its not being actually vented outside and just sits under your floor marinating. fixing lower level vent helped immensely. we turned on that fan, went outside, there was no vent opening. it didnt work or exist

We even had a plumber remove the toilet and check the seal and install a new one!

I waited a week to post this because I made sure to clean the toilet nightly, use an in-bowl cleaner, and scrub around the toilet daily. There is still an odor of urine around the toilet that I can not source. What could this be? It’s driving me insane!
