Reddit is completely fake. Stay off of it.

Reddit is where even A.I. goes to die. It's the container at the bottom of the porta potty version of the internet. Even much of the deep web is nicer than it.

Sure. I’ve seen several where (in other comments) the person has VERY specific criteria for the job: must be fully remote (usually accompanied by a not-entirely-plausible reason of why they CANNOT work an onsite or hybrid job), must not drug test, needs to let them work overseas, must pay over $200K a year…I get having standards but if you are truly struggling this much to get a job you may want to reconsider (for example, considering hybrid roles).

I've seen that too, especially with looking for remote work only. Still, it's not clear why AaM seemingly doesn't receive similar letters. I don't recall if she ever addressed the subject of candidates being rejected by AI, which is like an elephant in the room.

I feel like the Askamanager blog and Reddit job advice communities live in different universes. When AaM gets updates they are typically positive. Worst case scenario is someone just staying at their current company they don't like. Most of the time, LW searched for a job for only 1-2 months and found a great opportunity with a 20% raise, flexible schedule and left their toxic workplace.

Almost all career threads on Reddit are super depressive. Think something like "I applied for 1750 jobs in a year, got 3 interviews and zero offers" or "I have 2 Master's degrees and can't even get a job as a janitor". Do they have different audiences? I like AaM but she doesn't seem to address the issue of AI rejecting applications much.
