Which schools have advanced resource and how does it differ from regular?

I’ve never heard of that, but I wish my DS school would offer it!

My experience is old, but I think it's also a time when kids who get other IEP services at school, can get that help. So, a kid can miss their resource class for speech, rather than their math class. Or the OT can push into resource and work on typing.

Is it effective for helping kids figure out how to execute larger homework projects? Or mainly just a study hall for kids to have one fewer class's demands, and more raw time for homework?

My only thought about why there would be "Advance Resource" would be so it would add to your weighted GPA.

Some of the things that resource classes teach are goal setting and prioritizing assignments. Student will calculate their GPA and determine what they need to work on. They also have time to organize their binders. Some students get more out of it than others.

We did Reaource class in MS. It was nice to have some extra time for homework but I don’t think any real EF skills were taught. My kid maybe got some one on one time once a semester or so. The impression I had is that there were a lot of challenging kids in it and the teacher had her hands full. If you need to just not be taking 7 classes I think it’s helpful but I don’t know if I’d expect much more.

There is no such thing as advanced resource. It’s all self-contained and all on level.

My DC is in Resource (there is no advance) at WCHS and it is basically supposed to help with executive functioning like checking in on assignments, getting extra help where needed, checking grades, etc. It has been helpful to my child mainly to get HW done while there, but we also have a private EF coach which is a bit more in depth than what you’ll get in resource.

Anyone have experience with (SpEd) "Resource" vs "Advanced Resource" in HS?

These are the IEP study hall classes that are supported by SpEd teachers to help with study skills and exec function.

What is the study skills / exec func content in these classes?
Do the kids get much of their regular homework done in that class?
