Yes the do. They're famous for cicchetti.

Generally for a meal or aperitivo. I don't consider that a snack.

We had a good meal canalside near Ca Rezzonico which I am pretty sure was this place https://enotecaartisti.com/

And another in Cannareggio which was more of a steak place— might have been ai canottieri?

Sorry — guess I should save them like PP.

I've started saving spots that I liked or want to visit in google maps.

We enjoyed the casual garden vibe of this restaurant and the prices were quite reasonable

I am the same! Unless I had an email reservation reminder or something, or had a second house there, I would never remember. I was in Venice last year and you could offer me $1 million to give you the name of one restaurant where we ate, and I could not.

It's going to be overrun with tourists, unfortunately. And yes, Venice is famous for their cicchetti. I used to live in Venice proper and have many fond memories of whiling away afternoons with regional wines, plates of baccalà, sarde in saor, fritto misto and excellent conversation.

No, I have great memories of good places from trips 10+ years ago Have even returned to some of them over a decade later on a return trip. Not in Venice though, no memorable meals there.

If you want to make a day of visiting other islands then lunch at Cipriani on Torcello is a good destination.

If you're out by the Arsenale/Biennale area

Salvmeria

Osteria alla Frasca (casual make a res)
Al Covo (nicer lunch spot, make a res)
CoVino (nicer lunch spot, make a res)
Il Refolo (pizza)
Schiavi (grab a pre dinner spritz)
Bancogiro (pre dinner apps or a spritz)
Vino Vero (wine bar)
Harry’s Dolce (lunch on Giudecca)
Torrefazione for coffee
Vecia Gina (pizza, lunch, go if you are going to the Biennale)

Avoid most of the restaurants near San Marco.
