I grew up in northern Minnesota (where a wildfire threatened my hometown 3 weeks ago, is still not fully contained, and another fire is 0% contained) not far from the Boundary Waters. After several years on the east coast and SW, I now live on the western MN border.

For several summers now we have had stretches of haze (sometimes you can smell the smoke) from wildfire smoke drifting from Canada, Minnesota (at times; prevailing winds are mostly from the west) and the western US. I am 70. This was not a feature of the summer until the past 15 years.

This image should shock anyone. In this latitude the "April showers bring May flowers" was shifted a month to May (along with early June) with the flowers in June. Not so much now. We have had July temps since mid-May.
