Not much change at the top 50. Less financial aid available, schools will take more full pay candidates.

Population decline will start but it is not an actual cliff so still plenty of applicants for not enough slots. Colleges on the margins will begin to teeter and close.

For DCUMers same as the last 5 or so years.

No, every expert is saying that class sizes will increase at schools due to the budget cuts and threats of financial cuts from Trump. Tuition will go up AND more students will be added into already large classes to gain more tuition dollars to offset some of the funding cuts. The teacher student ration will get worse. There will also be some brain drain and professor attrition to great schools outside the US (such as the international relations trio of Prof's leaving Yale to join U of Toronto).

So college will cost more, classes will be bigger, and we may lose some great profs.

Also there will be cost cutting everywhere to recover some of the missing funds.

If you’re reducing financial aid spending, you can shrink your class sizes and demand less professors leading to layoffs for non tenure track faculty. Right now they’re spending hundreds of millions to get kids financial aid. They could easily gain revenue by just accepting full pay students and reserving a very limited portion of the budget to the poor.
