These are trainable skills. Read for one minute. The next day, two. The next day, three. If your brain is distracting you, pause your reading, acknowledge your thinking, and then either keep reading or, if your brain is too distracted, stop and try again another time. practice some form of meditation to get used to simply acknowledging your brain's random thoughts and interjections.

Mood swings are harder to correct, but you can track them and see if there are patterns you can work with. Don't sit down hangry and expect focus and calm.

Sleep is also a trainable skill. Develop a bedtime routine and stick with it. Make sure your bedroom is dark, quiet, and somewhat cold. Say or write your gratitudes, get in bed, and say goodnight to your body, starting at your toes, then ankles, lower legs, knees, etc. When you've said goodnight to your body, count backwards from 1000, slowly. If you get to one, get up and go do something else for 30 minutes or so, then repeat. Do not let yourself lay away in bed, thinking.

Don't do drugs. Just do some personal work and retrain yourself.

Get a non-THC version of CBD. If you’re in DC go to dispensary and get the person there to help you pick something.

Try meditating. "gummies" are drugs, and this is a foolish idea

+1. You want the thoughts to stop racing, and that won’t happen if you just try to block them out. They’ll come back and race even faster when the gummy wears off.

THC is THC. If paranoia is often your response to it, it’s not for you.

Np. I think this is terrible advice. I was a runner for all of my 30s including running through pregnancies (except the last 2 months) and post partum and I love it but it’s going to have limited effectiveness. In fact, feeling like my brain wouldn’t “clear up” during exercise like it always had before was part of what finally made me realize this was Peri and serious. If I tried to run for sleep (instead of take hrt), I’d run many times a night, practically all night.

If you’ve not tried hrt yet, that’s what works. With wine, canibas, I’d still have anxiety bc I’d know it didn’t actually work, or would only work to make me fall asleep early on the sofa and be miserably awake in the dead of the night. I have a DH, dog and child so I need to be able to fall back asleep easily if they wake me at 2 am.

I would suggest doing both. Do something active, then do a low dose (5 mg or 2.5 mg) gummy at night. Go to a dispensary and ask a budtender what they suggest.
