Labubu lore centers around a fictional elvish creature tribe, "The Monsters," created by artist Kasing Lung. Labubu, a female elf with pointy ears, a mischievous grin, and serrated teeth, is a prominent member of this tribe, known for her well-meaning but often clumsy attempts to help others.

The monsters are inspired by the classic book “Where The Wild Things Are”. Now it’s a trend thanks to social media and the dopamine hit of blind bags.

Yep, it's ugly. Reminds me of the Monchichi that was popular in the 80's, which at the time I thought was cute.

It’s wild how some trends just take off. But honestly, every generation has had its "Why are kids obsessed with this??" moment. Remember Cabbage Patch dolls? People were literally fighting in stores over those potato-faced dolls. Then came Beanie Babies, Furbies (those creepy blinking owls), Tamagotchis, Pokemon cards, Silly Bandz, Rainbow Looms, Funko Pops—even Crocs had their moment of "these are hideous" before becoming cool again.

It’s like a rite of passage for every generation to have a quirky, collectible craze that confuses adults. Labubu is just this generation's version of that. Ugly-cute seems to be part of the charm.

Why? Why are people going crazy for these things? My kid’s middle school is overrun with them. They are so ugly. I just don’t get the hype? seriously I usually can understand when things like this happen but these things are just straight up ugly and it’s making it very hard to understand.
