I think we want to get a bit further south than St. Augustine.

Flagler? Ormond?

The difference between St Augustine and Ormond to FL is about an hour

Yes, if you want to go further south than St Augustine you are on the doorstep of FLL. What about St Simons Island GA? It's a bit off the track from I95 but might be worth spending a few hours either late afternoon or early morning.

No there is nothing to do there at all.

We want to get further than Jacksonville but can’t make it all the way to Lauderdale in one day.

Is there a good option roughly an hour or two past Jacksonville?

No there are not.

Roach motels that's it.

Just stay in Canaveral area. If you stay a little further than the cruise port, prices are decent.

It puts you beyond Jacksonville and there is not a lot of traffic headed out of Canaveral south.

I would stop in Orlando to see modest mouse or Franz Ferdinand in concert there.

If you have more than 1 driver just drive straight through.

St. Augustine to Lauderdale is 4.5 hours (without traffic or any stops).

We can’t make the nearly 15 hour drive to Fort Lauderdale from our home in 1 day. We want to push a bit further south from St. Augustine so we have a shorter drive the next day—ideally around 3 hours.

Second St. Augustine. If you want to get further south than that from here, you have to ask yourself if it’s worth stopping at all?

Honestly, Savannah, GA

We are driving from DC to Lauderdale but can’t make it in one day.

driving during winter break; will leave at 6am but will want to stop somewhere further north in FL and spend the night before finishing the drive to Lauderdale the next day—with a goal of arriving by lunchtime.

It would be ideal to overnight at a beach for a late dinner/enjoy hearing the ocean as we sleep (oceanfront hotel).

We are driving to Fort Lauderdale and need to break up the drive with an overnight.

We want to get further than Jacksonville but can’t make it all the way to Lauderdale in one day.

Is there a good option roughly an hour or two past Jacksonville?
