Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc. all last year started trying to close all the email accounts by making everything harder to access, requiring "verification" info, data-mining those who called in to the overseas "help" centers and getting their DL, SS#, etc. for "verification and security purposes", and so on.

OATH corporatino is behind a lot of it. Who they got their marching orders from is anyone's guess, but it's the usual players that are creating the "dead internet".

I haven't been able to do so. I probably haven't used it in 15 years or more, don't know the password, and can't get in. I've tried everything. Hopefully YMMV.

If you don't have your password, you will have to try the recovery features (Forgot your password?) and hopefully you still have the same cell number or recovery email address.

This.

I tried to recover my mom’s old Hotmail account for her (she had used her home phone as her phone number, and it was her very first email) when she couldn’t remember her password. It escalated to filling out a form with what she thought might have been some of her last sent emails (they would match them) but she had never sent an email. It was a mess and she was locked out for good.

Weird question but how can you recover your Hotmail account?
