My son was supposed to have level 2 services for this past year, he had no differentiated support and was placed in the intervention class this year with a class size of 28 students, there was no time for differentiation. Seems are AART hands out worksheets to see what the kids do and teachers are not very supportive or encouraging.

If it makes you feel better, there is going to be no difference between Level 2 and Level 3. FCPS is cutting AART positions to part time in the new budget, so they'll do even less than they did last year for your kid.

The AART is very unapproachable and I don’t think has given my child a fair chance at AAP despite very good test scores and performance in class. This person does not have my child’s best interest in mind and I’m not sure what to do about it. The school will simply protect them.

There’s a process to move students from one level to another, and I am afraid that a 475 on the math of SOL wouldn’t be sufficient for a request to go to L3.

Yes, it said your child qualifies for level II differentiated in-class support… It did have an explanation letter that listed the words Level II.
I think it was an automatic letter sent to some kids based on their SOL score.

I thought they got rid of the level numbers. Did you specifically get something that said "Level 2"?
FWIW, my child received maybe one worksheet every two weeks that is labeled "extension" as part of Level 2 services. It's useless.

That should take you to the page on pathways to AAP. It says you can appeal once per year by contacting the AART via email and providing new info about the student. If you didn't submit a parent referral for part time services (the old Level 3) you might just be able to do that. If you did submit the form, I'd ask the AART what you need to send her.
